I get the feeling from some of the negative reviews that some people don't understand how to use it correctly. I'm not saying it is for everyone, but for many of us it is a wonderful tool.I've used mine more than once, positioning my antenna in the attic and then outdoors at my mom's house in a bit more rural setting, with a cheaper antenna with more limited range. I always go to the OTA map sites to get the general direction first, so I know I'm in the ball park. But then, I attach a short cable between this device and the antenna so I can position the antenna as I look at this device. I don't even hook the other end to a cable going to the TV, as there is no need. I then point the antenna in the general direction and dial back the strength to one light on the meter. Then I rotate the antenna to get more lights on the meter. Then I dial the strength again back to one light and rotate again to see if I can get the signal to increase to more lights. The point is to hone in on the absolute pinpoint direction with the best signal. Having found that, I lock down the antenna there and then I remove this meter from the equation and hook the cable from the tv (or your breakout box/splitter or signal amp, whatever your situation is) to the antenna. Works great every time.If you are leaving this signal strength meter hooked up between your tv and your antenna and (worse) leaving the signal strength dial at less than full strength, you've defeated the entire purpose of this meter, as reducing the signal strength is only meant for testing.I give this a full five stars because it does exactly what it was intended to do and, for my mom's house, I was able to solidly get all channels from distant broadcast antennas with what I'd normally think would be a less-than-adequate cheaper receiver antenna.

Unit did not work! Poor quality construction of short cable and unit. Cable nut broke off will very little finger tightening and connection on unit came loose.Purchased to setup/optimize an antenna up in the attic so I did not have to run back and forth. I could not get any signal indicator on unit even though TV’s tuner showed I had a signal strength of 70+.I even took a small wall antenna that I can get really great reception without any amplification verified by TV’s channel strength meter and could not get any signal LEDs to light. I added amplification before input to the unit and was able to get two LEDs to light but did not change with any adjustment per instructions regardless of position of antenna. TV’s signal strength did indicated change in signal based on antenna position. It appears this is just a defective unit based on my experience and other reviews that I read.(Follow-up) I contacted the seller and they promptly replaced the unit. The new unit operated as expected and had no other issues with the product.

The item came with additional hookup cables that were a nice surprise. But the enclosed 9 volt battery was dead. Worked perfectly with a new battery.

Adiós a los gritos "ahi ahi se ve" donde la señal en mas fuerte ahí te orienta la antena

Not sure why I thought this would do anything. And it failed to meet even those expectations.Hard to know where to start, this is so lame. Even the battery cover doesn't hinge up enough to get the battery in it. Then when you connect it up and turn it on, it goes downhill from there. Move your hand around it, and the reading will change from great to terrible to great. Touch the antenna and the reading will change to all lit up. Take your hand off, and it will drop to nearly nothing, way lower than before. The led flickers randomly, it seems to want to frustrate you.I tweaked and tweaked to what I thought was best, and nothing came in. Tried again and again. Swinging the antenna by as much as 90 degrees. Readings all over the place. Up the ladder into the attic, back down to the TV. Back up, fight this thing, back down. Never got a good picture. Then I went to antennaweb.org, looked up my address, it told me the compass degree to point my antenna to, I used my smartphone's compass, pointed the antenna that direction, and poof, 50 clear channels.Save your money, look up your address and set your antenna right.

So, this is one of those times you are bugged for a review. One of those times they should actually wait for the review!I am getting ready to start full time RVing and thought this would come in handy. I am currently what I thought was too close to a major city for this thing to make a difference, but after trying it? Well, I could only get 2-3 of the lights to light. Turned the antenna a full 360 several times. I have to say the first time reading the directions threw me off a bit and I was really frustrated. I hate to admit because I really do not know what I misread, because after taking a break and reading over the instructions again, they are really easy to understand. So while I am hoping to up the stars on the review, only time will tell. I will definitely update once I am on the road in different environments.
