I've used this hammer for a while now, mostly to chisel mortises and tenon, I don't have a lot of experience, but notices it just work, never have to think about were to hit, its intuitive. I assumed this is a great weight, good balance and grip combination.

Great for hitting chisels. The rubber cover comes off the handle and can be placed back on if wanted. The black cover is kind of rough but grips well.

Paul Sellers ESSENTIAL WOODWORKING HAND TOOLS, is the best wood working book I have ever bought or read. A lot of thought went into this great book and I highly recommend this book for every one who is interes in working with Hand Tools, you won't be disappointed.

I bought this on the recommendation of hand tool specialist woodworker Paul Sellers. It's perfect for heavier chisel work where a brass mallet isn't quite strong enough. He took off the black non-slip part of the handle, and I can see why: it's very rough. But if you need a really sturdy grasp then this will do it. All in all what I was expecting, and great for the job.

I never received the hammer!!! I got a package that was supposed to have the hammer in it but instead it was a tap tool that was in bubble wrap with a label that said nylon hammer. I have no current need for the tap tool but I am too busy to take time to return it so I just kept it and maybe I'll find a use for it. Very very disappointed!
