It's usually pretty easy to find at least some shortcomings in mechanical designs with all of the budget gear and accessories available these days. But it's refreshing when you find something that impresses you all around.This bracket is made entirely of black/clear anodized aluminum or steel except for the rubber non-slip pad and the washer/insert that tightens against the top of your hot shoe. The deeply-knurled round knobs are generously sized (1.08" and 1.22") and very easy to grip and tighten. Each of the knurled knobs has four evenly spaced holes around the perimeter to allow insertion of a rod or the included hex wrench as a tightening handle, although I don't see any need to go beyond finger-tight. These knobs and the two-lobed side knob for tightening tilt are all properly fitted with spacers or washers to provide smooth tightening without any of the gritty metal-on-metal galling that you often get with un-lubricated anodized aluminum parts.The tilt and pan axes have just the right amount of friction when loose and both are locked when the hot shoe and tilt knobs are tightened. The included hex wrench allows adjustment of each axis.The two pins adjacent to the 1/4-20 threaded stub are spring loaded so they simply push out of the way if your device has no orientation holes in its base.This is a very refined design that is beautifully manufactured, and I really have nothing bad to say about it I would have said it was a little pricey, but that was until I saw it. This quality is worth the price.Highly recommended.

With its smooth corners, oversized knurled tightening wheel, super strong NATO clamp and all aluminum construction, you aren't going to find a better tilting adapter. I own quite a few tilting adapters that either slide in the cold shoe on top of your camera or attach to a NATO rail, and this one is the best of the bunch.Tilta makes superior quality photographic accessories and this mounting bracket is definitely superior to most.

I use this to mount my field monitor on my tripod so I never have to look away from my subject. Very helpful indeed.
