The tripod does in fact use carbon fiber. Please take no offense Artcise, as I have seen other tripods that claimed were carbon fiber based solely on a veneer skin wrapped over PVC plastic. It's solid and sturdy, and while it lacks a sliding brace ring, I can work without one.Right away, the leg clamps on mine are different that the listing images, I have twist-to-lock style clamps rather then the flip-lock style clamps pictured. I do not consider this a serious issue, just an inconsistency. The part that did bug me was the "Tripod use manual" with is nothing more than a quick-start cheat sheet. It said I should refer to the listing for needed details like weight limit and such. And then there are the pack ins... The spear-tip feet for the legs are nice to have. The cell phone mount, gooseneck, and thread-in adapter are nice to have. The second ARCO plate is a real value add. The stubby peg confuses me though. None of these items are addressed in the 'manual' and even the product listing only shows them assembled. My whinging about lack of documentation aside, I'm really pleased with the tripod and can feel a decided weight difference from my current setup.

There are tons of these generic rebranded tripods out there, but despite this one being the “previous” model and not the more expensive “upgraded” one, it has a lot of nice features. A usable monopod mode, decent overall height, extending center column with replaceable shorter column, a ball head with smooth pan base, phone holder, spike feet, soft pouch to hold all the accessories, and carry bag. It's decently light and seems durable. The legs are easy to adjust for angle and length, and have multiple notched fold angles. There are taller travel tripods but only by another half foot or so, and none I found had the monopod feature, so this seems like an excellent all-in-one package for the price.Honestly, everything works acceptably well, though it is a bit clunky. Switching out the center column or using the monopod requires you to unscrew the ball head if you want to use it with the shorter column/monopod, while other models offer quicker methods. The ball head is clunky just like any other ball head and offers no unique features to improve the experience, though the ball tensioner lever can be adjusted so it's easier to access. The included accessories have no dedicated place in the carry bag other than stuffing them in the pouch and zipping them up next to the tripod.Overall, the downsides are common among cheaper tripods, and were somewhat expected. But the excellent price combined with the number of features make up for it.
