I'm an avid bow hunter and I have used many releases and this one so far seems to be the best one I've ever used I highly recommend this product.

There's lots to like about this Trufire Hardcore Max release but accuracy is the most important trade-off so only 2 stars from me - and i rate it very sadly because this is one EXCELLENT RELEASE MECHANISM VERY POORLY IMPLEMENTED. I have not shot it more than 200 times, mostly for testing, as I am using a Scott for field archery at the moment. Aand until I can find a different strap/mounting for this Trufire I won't be switching to it. I bought the Trufire mainly for hunting.====NEGATIVES FIRST======The HUGE NEGATIVE that offsets all the positives for me is the strap-induced torque on the release when fired. The thickly padded strap under the base of the release (the apex of the strap) pushes outward on the release. But its NOT ONLY this portion of the strap causing the problem. It's overall strap design. The release body is mounted to the strap in a way that places torque on the release away from the string path. The angle of torque varies depending on whether you shoot with the back of your hand against your face or with your palm angled down. When you hook this release onto your drawstring and draw the bow you are pulling the release in towards your palm, effectively in-line with your string path, but it is being torqued by the strap so when you fire it springs back. The wrist strap and its mounting ring are torquing the release off-axis away from the palm of your hand away from the string axis. This effect gets worse if you like to place the trigger further down your finger because effectively this way you are shooting with the release closer to the palm of your hand, so the strap is placing more torque on the release.I could not understand why I was consistently shooting off-center with this release. I was switching between different releases for hours at a time at 20 meters trying to work out why - concentrating on my form, anchor points, etc.. The release got more inaccurate out to 40 meters. I was extremely frustrated with the COMPARATIVELY poor accuracy. Then I found the reason was right in front of me all the time - the strap. It would also help if the base of the release could swivel freely on that crazy mounting ring which is like a large key-ring sewn into the strap. But it can't. This is because the release is designed to fold back and stay out of the way - it is deliberately stiff. The strap angles the release away from your hand and the stiff ring connection adds to the torque. I will NEVER buy a fold-back release again!!!=======POSITIVES========.*I found this release easier to hook to my d-loop than any other, apart from my TruBall Stinger .*I have more confidence in it 'not misfiring' from unintended trigger contact than most other releases I own and have owned, except for maybe the Stinger.*The Hardcore has a nice solid, not too small trigger and robust solid build. I can get my large fingers behind the 'off-axis' trigger without fear of bumping it until I'm ready to shoot.*The trigger is crisp, smooth with minimal travel just as good as my Scott releases....that's quality.*I bought the TruFire Hardcore Buckle Black Foldback Max. Not sure if Max = extra thick extra padded strap, or extra large. The leather buckled wrist strap is the BEST of any wrist release - period. Amazingly well made and stitched, robust, super snug, super comfortable, very secure even on a sweaty wrist.*This strap will fit the largest wrist. I have a 20-21cm diameter wrist and I buckle mine on the 2nd strap hole. There are 12 buckle holes in the strap exactly 1cm apart so a lot of excess adjustment on my model. Maybe "Max" in the model description means max size? I suspect it was made to fit over long sleeve clothing including jackets because no human has a wrist that large. CAUTION: if you have a smaller wrist be careful which model Hardcore you order.SUMMARYDespite the great features there's a trade-off: a loss of accuracy due to strap induced torque (on the model I purchased). It kills me because its such a great release mechanism poorly mounted on an accuracy-robbing strap. I summarize the design fault on my model as follows:1. Strap apex (portion below wrist and under the release barrel) pushes the release away from the hand and therefore the string axis with substantial pressure.2. The overall wrist strap design is too rigid and fails to contour/conform with the wrist angle - including the angle at which the connector ring is sewn into the strap and the placement of the ring contributes to strap torque3. The release barrel is threaded onto the sewn-in connector ring in a way that deliberately stops it from rotating freely. This rigid fold-up design exacerbates strap torque.4. It may be that the oversize extra thick strap is the major cause of strap torque, It tends to buckle out of contour with the wrist when tightened. A wrist with diameter of 20-21cm (not a small wrist) using only the 2nd buckle hole (out of 12 holes) might indicate that the strap is excessively large.5. I found I could reduce the torquing if I shot with a slightly arched wrist and finger placing the release further out from the palm of my hand under less torque, and using the upper segment or tip of the index finger on the trigger. Not good form.

For people complaint about the clip being to small and the elastic strap. I had the same concern until I actually read the instructions. The elastic is what goes in the clip not the thick leather portion. As for the product itself it has been fantastic once it was all set up. And the hook design is so much easier to put on the string. Feels more like your actual fingers when shooting.

Absolutely a phenomenal wrist release.I ordered 2 different releases prior to ordering this one as I did not like those in one way or another, -and they cost more than this one!I finally found this release and absolutely love it already, I replaced an older TruFire wrist release with this way advanced version from TruFire.I like how many different adjustable settings this release has and how comfortable it is, I can see the wrist padding to be fairly warm during the summer months tho. No biggy! The trigger feels super smooth from factory, very soft, crisp release. No adjustments needed for now as I like the way it comes, maybe on a hunt with gloves on I might increase the tension a bit on the trigger for less touchy feel. The fold back option is nice, -which my old TruFire had as well, tho my old wrist release basically just 'hung' there so it was easy to fold back with a twist of your wrist. This release you need both hands to snap it back basically, so I noticed when loading an arrow you need to keep the release in your hand else it gets in the way a bit, touching your string or riser making things a bit awkward. Not a deal breaker, but I had to mention something 'negative'

This release is phenomenal. I received it earlier this week, and the more I use and toy with it the more I enjoy and appreciate it. There are certain characteristics which are easily noted. Among these are the thick and unusually comfortable wrist strap and the very simple and effective fold-back feature. Additionally, the release strap never needs be fully unbuckled; the TruFire arrowhead at the end serves as a stop so that the strap can be more easily put on and taken off. Beyond these obvious features are others which show great thoughtfulness of design and are related to the length of draw and trigger quality. The draw length is adjusted via the vase-shaped piece at the base of the release. It screws up and down and the range of movement is long enough that it can be adjusted from too-short for me to use to too-long. The particularly nice thing about the design is that this length adjustment is distinct from the head's movement. On some releases that is not the case, and the adjustments must be made in full rotations of the head to assure that it is properly aligned with your trigger finger. Here, the adjustment is completely separate from the head's position, and thus infinite adjustment is possible. Finally, the trigger quality is great. Although I am unaware of the mechanism's particulars, it must be sear-style. The trigger weight and sear engagement, or take up, are both separately adjustable. My other release is a Scott Wolf with a roller bearing mechanism. It's a nice release, but if you're a trigger freak like I am (coming from rifle and pistol shooting), there is no comparison between the two. Although I shoot my version of back-tension with the trigger in my first joint, the crisp release is still very helpful in making accurate shots. If you do purchase this and adjust the sear engagement, assure that there is sufficient contact to prevent an unintended release. Finally, the price here is about $30 cheaper than elsewhere. Because of its thoughtful and well-executed features, I highly recommend this release.
