Manual focus ... but it works wellThe lens appears to be well made. The weight might be a drawback for some people. This is not a light lens.It worked well for astrophotography.

I bought the EF version with a EF-MFT adapter for my Olympus E-M1 mk III. I took this shot at f/11, 1/400 sec., ISO 200, hand-held. The Airbus A321-200 is about 12,000 feet away from me. Zoomed in, I can read the tail number and see which windows have the shade pulled down. On the 2x crop MFT sensor, only the center of the image circle is used and this is where the lens really shines. At f/11 it's nearly perfect, super-sharp and only a hint of purple fringe on the specular highlights, which are easily removed in Lightroom.I do not find the focus ring to be all that stiff. It is stiffer than my Olympus lenses, sure, but is still very easy to turn and get accurate focus. I think the extra stiffness actually helps. Maybe mine is a more recent version with the focus ring tuned better. This is one of the best values in photography today.

I've been using the TTArtisan 500mm F6.3 lens on my Canon RF-Mount camera for a few weeks, and I think I can share my experience. For its price point, I have to say, this lens is a solid choice that offers great value.First things first, the fit on my camera's RF mount is flawless. One thing to note is that you have to change a menu setting to fire with no lens attached, they put a card in the box that tells you how to do it, but don’t overlook that detail! After making that change in the menu, I had zero issues with it. The aluminum finish of the lens gives it a robust, high-quality feel that you don’t usually find in lenses within this price range. An interesting feature is its aluminum lens hood, which is a nice change from the typical plastic ones. It’s these small details that show the thought put into the design and construction of this lens. When we talk about the quality of the images, I've been pleasantly surprised. Yes, it's a budget lens, so I wasn't expecting the kind of sharpness that a high-end model would bring. But even with that in mind, the images turned out significantly better than I had anticipated. I used it to capture a shot of the moon, and while I noticed a smidge of color fringing, it was so minor that it barely affected the overall image quality. I initially found the contrast a tad low, but a quick tweak in Lightroom quickly fixed that. The manual focus of the lens does require some getting used to, especially if you've been using lenses with autofocus. But once you get the hang of it, it’s quite rewarding. The focus peaking on my R5 was a big help in getting the focus just right, making this a good lens for still shots in particular. Capturing fast-moving subjects can be a bit of a challenge, but with practice, it gets easier.A feature that I found useful was the tripod foot on the lens itself. This made balancing the lens on my tripod easy. The lens doesn't have autofocus or image stabilization, which did take a bit of getting used to. But considering its price, it's a small trade-off. Also, in a way, it encourages you to learn and master the art of manual focusing, which can be quite rewarding. In conclusion, the TTArtisan 500mm lens is a solid budget-friendly lens. If you're just dipping your toes into the world of photography or if you're in need of a lens that delivers decent results without burning a hole in your pocket, this one is definitely worth considering.

Great for telescopic photography. Used for the 2024 Solar Eclipse and was very sharp. Inexpensive at this focal length. Is manual focus, so best for non moving objects. Will be trying for night photography as well as F/6.3 at 500MM is much better than anything on the market that is not at least triple this cost.
