I plan to install this nut in a small sump, so I wish the specifications described it better so I could plan to make it fit. It measures 2.765" across the flats, 3.13" across the corners (which are slightly radiused), and 0.36" thick. The body is cast and the threads were machined. Because the flats are larger than 2.75" I'm not sure whether a 2.75" socket wrench will accept it.Contrary to the description, this nut has no O-ring groove. The faces have a fine grainy surface typical of a sand casting. One side is unmarked and flat, and an O-ring might seal to it if the O-ring is not too hard and I use enough torque. The other side has embossed markings that say 2" and 304, which would abrade an O-ring and prevent a good seal. At $7, I think it's a good value, but I give it 2 stars because of the false advertising and quality concerns. I ordered uxcell Nitrile Rubber O-Rings 40mm OD 33mm ID 3.5mm Width that are 70 Shore A durometer, so I'll find out whether they seal to this without sanding it flat.
