Get this on a sale for ~$40, which is a great price for its output. More than twice the output of the ~$20 options out there, which is sufficient for my usage of filming camp cooking. It goes down to 2500k which is just above the temp of camp fire, I'll upgrade if they come out with one that could go down to 1800k. Battery is plenty enough and the fan only kick in at higher output and barely audible. There quite a few mode but I'll have to look up how to incorporate them into my video.

I love this ULANZI LE20 RGB Video Light. I have a few other smaller pocket lights that are 5W and have noticed that they are not as bright as I want them to be for things like rim or accent lighting for my talking head videos. This guy is 20 watts and boy, you can see and feel the difference between it and the smaller ones I have (another Ulanzia and Neewer in the photos for comparison). It is very easy to use and so handy, fitting in a cold shoe (2 different attachments). It also comes with a diffuser cap that magnetizes on to the light and is easy to take off if you don’t need it. When selecting the Hue and Saturation it gives me what I am expecting similar to the Neewer pocket light. It also comes with other lighting features like police lights, lightning, etc. Although to be honest, I don’t see myself using them, though it is good to have the option. I am definitely a Ulanzi stan since I have a few other lights of theirs as well as clamps and other attachments. At the time of this writing, the price is $49.99 with a 10% coupon. Granted, it is more than twice the price of the smaller 5 watt pocket lights (which usually cost about $20), but you are getting 20 watts for this one. I would call this a very good next step up to an entry level pocket light and it’s worth it to me.

Everything about this light is remarkable. When I first tried it, I decided not to look at the manual, just to see how complicated the user interface was—and it took a few tries to get what I was trying to do. But, within a few minutes I had sorted it all out. And the manual (I’m one of those people that read the entire manual for pretty much everything) does a good job of explaining everything. Why do I write “remarkable?” — well, let’s start with the amount of light output, coming from something that you can almost hide in your hand. With the clip on (using magnets) diffuser, you get a fairly even spread of bright light, at both an intensity and a temperature that you can easily control. All the way from 1% to 100%, and a wider Kelvin range than I am used to, even in larger COB spotlights. It’s got 20 scenes, which, as a still photographer are completely useless to me, but I suppose for video, some of the effects would be useful. The RGB range is about what I’d expect, but again, it’s got a surprising amount of output, and again, you get complete dimming on whatever you dial up.The small display shows battery charge, brightness, color temperature, or whatever scene you’re set to—pretty much everything you need to know.My one complaint is the need to use an Allen key (included) to lock the small pivot attachment (the device has a slot to attach this, rather than a built in threaded hole, although there is a second, really tiny attachment that is just a brass threaded hole). Rather than the Allen key, a small knob would not add much size, and would mean you don’t have to keep track of the separate key just to change the angle. This lamp is light enough, that a really small flat knob would hold it plenty well.Battery life is also surprisingly good. I don’t think that even 5 years ago a lamp this small, that has this much run time, would have been possible—the advancements both in LED technology and rechargeable cells just keep coming.Build quality and the materials used are also very promising. I’m impressed!

This light is awesome. It’s small but powerful, and it feels very high quality. It gets surprisingly bright for such a small light. It has a ton of different modes (TV flicker, candle flame, police car, etc) and lots of colors. It’s excellent. There are two mounts that come with the light. They're hard to squeeze into the bottom of the light and even harder to pull out, so that's a drawback. The diffusing cover attaches with magnets and clips on easily and holds strong. It's nice and really helps smooth out the light.

I have a bunch of compact camera-mountable lights and this has become my favorite. It's incredibly bright for its size, and while it is pretty large compared to other, similar lights, it's worth the extra size and weight. The battery lasts for a while and it's easy to operate. The fan doesn't get too loud and it keeps the light cool. Definitely worth adding to your kit if you need a bright, portable light.
