Works well, durable, keeps butter at a perfect temperature and softness. Easy to clean and to fill. Looks nice on the counter.

I've had one of these on my wish-list for some time but the Le Crucet version is almost $50. (yikes, I know) so I've held off. I'm super glad to have received this one, it's everything I could have wanted from the more expensive brands. it's a simple ceramic implement that just works, the beauty is in the function and simplicity. I love the way it creates an air-tight seal (water in the basin) and stays cleaner than the traditional butter dish. It's got a great capacity, holding an entire stick of butter (4oz, 113g) with a little room to spare. I just put the scraps of butter I get from cooking into the crock instead of having partial sticks of butter in the refrigerator. You end up with less mess, less waste and you have fresh spreadable butter in a small package.This was wrapped / packaged REALLY well, it had ample amounts of foam in the carboard box I got from amazon, so I was happy to report it arrived not damaged.

When I first opened this Ceramic Butter Crock it looked like it couldn't possibly hold as much butter as we normally have set out. But once I started packing the butter into the inside container it actually holds a LOT more than it would seem! I actually holds about 2 whole sticks of butter once its softened a bit. As it says in the directions when you place the water inside the outer crock and then slide the butter container upside down into the outer shell the water forms an airtight seal so your butter stays fresh longer AND stays softer than being in the fridge. The crock itself is beautiful. Nice and heavy, it is solid ceramic. The little knob on top makes it easy to pull the butter out and when you flip it over you have a handy little dish to scoop your butter out of. I love the look of it as well as the quality and the utility. It is a solid winner in my kitchen! This would make a lovely gift for friends or family.

Nice butter crock that compliments my dark kitchen well. I've never had one that keeps the butter near the water so that's different for me. My husband says the butter is harder because of the cold water. I don't think there's a difference much. Haven't figured out a really good way to get the butter in the crock so I wear a glove and kind of "smash" the stick in there. I need to look at a better way.
