Probably a little pricey but I love these scoops. Work well and like the color coded handles. Think I have 6 of them now. Great to have the right size for what you are doing. Cookies all the same size, same amount of batter in each cupcake, etc.

I never thought about it when I purchased this. But it could just be me but I found it very uncomfortable trying to scoop and pour batter using this being left handed It works great! I just had a hard time adjusting to it.

Whenever you have a choice between a Vollrath brand item and any other item, buy the Vollrath regardless of the price (notice I did NOT say "cost," as any Vollrath purchase is an investment, in my experienced opinion), because you will only have to purchase that item ONCE. Enough said. Except that they have been rocking perfection for about 150 years up in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, and they're still a family-owned and -operated business that equitably shares the revenue with its employees. Yes, I checked it all out since I was buying a lot of their kitchen equipment and it was about time I checked on their ethical stances. Not a single flaw. They do business right -- by everybody involved, especially their customers.

The product feels solid and seems well made. I wear size 7.5 surgical gloves which seems to be the most used size in our facilities. I think it is safe to say that I have fairly average-sized hands. I find the thumb mechanism of this scoop cumbersome to use with my hand size. I can still manage to use the tool in a reasonably effective way but I do find myself longing for a squeeze-to-release portion scoop for comfort rather than this thumb-action scoop. This is likely personal preference but I imagine the next scoop I buy will not have a thumb mechanism.
