The dust collector works as it should but you're probably going to need an aftermarket bag sooner or later. Remember WEN companies didn't cut corners to save a few pennies? Out of the box it was missing a mounting bolt. I had to file a warranty claim instead of them just mailing me a replacement. The bag had an open seam at the end of the zipper that I had to sew shut. Ten months later the zipper broke. No reply when I submitted a warranty claim. I've had 3-4 other WEN products that have been OK but this one makes me glad I didn't buy their planer. They did end up sending a replacement bag three weeks after I first filed the online warranty claim.

I have been using the Wen dust collector for about 2 months. I am quite pleased. I have been using a vintage Torit 1/2 hp dust collector, but the Wen has a higher CFM that works a lot better for my equipment. Only problem I have had is when I put softer wood in the jointer, it ends up with more shavings that plugged the input of the collector. Seller warned about it, so I am good with that. With hardwoods, it is not a problem - more sawdust, less shavings. Before, I had to put on a dust mask using the table saw, but now it is no longer needed.

This machine is awesome. I bought the 7.4 induction motor and it’s pretty quiet. I have a four inch hose on it and a handle to go with it. Works great but it needs to be mounted to the wall instead of being on the floor. Also make sure it’s only collecting sawdust and not bigger pieces. It will get stuck before it goes into the fan blades. Great product. So update on this wen product. It stopped working while I was using it and now it will not turn on. Nothing is blocking the blades and I cleaned the bag out. Tried to reset it but it doesn’t work when I do.So updateFinally got my machine to start working. Not really sure why it stopped working. But I’m glad it’s working again.

In fact, it's better than some more popular, snd expensive versions I bought over the past 6 months. HF, Rockler DR, etc!WEN and I do not have a very good history. So I was not expecting much out of this. But after buying, and then returning, several small shop dust collection systems, I figured I'd try the WEN. And, since power was important, I figured I'd go for the larger 7.4 Amp Induction motor system. Now, if wanting a mobile system, (or wall mount system, I'd not recommend the base they have with it. It's really poor quality, and actually seems to flex the system itself in the case if the one I purchased. But once I got mine mounted to the wall, I ditched the bag, and added a 5in Dryer exhaust to the outflow, and directed it through the wall, and outside of the shop. I was going to buy a filter, bit once I figured out an optimal design in a 55gal drum, I noticed it was catching 99.9% of everything I sucked up. I was truly shocked by how I have not yet seen any dust come out of exhaust. Do I was concerned, and looked ibto the blade area from the exhaust port, and it was clean as a whistle after filling the barrel ¾ full , 2 different times. Now, I'm not worried about how nice it looks. It's there to keep the rest of my shop looking nice. And while it's not pulling as much volume as my previous 2hp 6" 2-stage collection system, it's more than enough for what I'm using. And so far, it's been extremely impressive. So, spend a bit more on the induction motor version... it's better than anything out there under $400 and even better than the $600 version I tried from Rockler.I'll post video/pics as soon as I'm able to get caught up on work.
