There were a couple of questions not answered by the product page, so let me start with those.1. Can it only play MP3s from the local storage? No. It can also play FLAC, AAC, and a variety of formats and bitrates.2. Is this compatible with MacOS?Yes. However, I had some issues to get it work. FIrst, I had to make a directory under /Volumes and then mount it to that location. There are detailed instructions on YouTube on how to get it to mount properly. Search for "External Drive Won't Mount in macOS" by Jono Young for the instructions. Once this is done, you should be good to go.It is important to not put the sound files in any subdirectory as the player only seems to be able to read from the root of the device. I recommend limiting yourself to one album at a time because there is no easy way to seek to another album. Instead, you have to go forward track by track. Buld a playlist instead and use that. If you are playing an audiobook, the device is good at picking back up where it left off most of the time, but not all. For my part, I will stick with music because of this unpredictability.I contacted customer support to find out how to resolve the issue with Mac. I did specify Mac. Their suggestion was to search for the D: drive. Obviously, they don't know a thing about Macs. Nearly everything I found online referenced Microsoft Windows. Only third party sites gave advice that helped.Customer Support was therefore very unhelpful. I did send them the instructions on how to get it working, but it is unclear if they will add that to their instructions or teach their support staff.Be careful of volume levels. When in the pool with my head above water, I could adjust the volume and hear things fine albeit a bit muddled. Once my head went below the water level and both my ears and the headphones were submerged, the volume shot up immensely. I ended up having to adjust so that I could hear underwater, but then could not hear once they were above water. I only intend to use them for the pool and have other headphones for normal wear that are much clearer.Battery life is impressive. After two days, it still states that the level is high. I am going to continue using them without charging until they die to see if it gives proper alerts along the way. So far, I have used them for two hours of swimming and they are still stating the level is high.As with any electronic device, excessive heat may be a concern, so I am not going to risk it there. By iexcessive heat, I am referring to saunas and steam rooms. I believe I read in the instructions to not use them in such situations. They are rated to 113 degrees fahrenheit, so I did wear them in the hot tub though I don't submerge there. Be sure to rinse them off in the shower to remove any chlorine or other chemicals.Make sure you measure the back of your head from ear to ear. The smaller size most likely will fit better. I bought the larger size, but my ears freakishly sit back on my head leaving a large gap between the headphone band and my neck. I am not able to lay on my back without it knocking the headphones off, so they are not good for falling asleep with for me. The smaller size would most likely resolve this issue, but I did not want to wait for them to be back in stock. These did would with iOS 18.0 beta 5, so I do not anticipate issues with the final release. There is a notice everywhere that BlueTooth does not work underwater. I would suspect I could load music to my Apple Watch Ultra 2 and still play from there, but I have not tested. I can understand distance being constrained and it not working with your phone that is sitting poolside, but....They suit the purpose I bought them for. But I have had much better sound from Shokz, but they are nearly twice the price and not waterproof. Sound is not bad if you don't mind keeping your head underwater - at least your ears and the headphones. I don't recommend keeping your entire head underwater for an extended period of time without a snorkel at the least. There is no microphone, so do not think for a second you can take calls, talk to Siri, Alexa or Google, or anything of the sort. Since they are BlueTooth, you may be able to answer calls, but the other party will never hear you. Like I said, they are good for the single purpose of being able to use in water sports.

I can't say enough good things about the Wildhorn Outfitters Crank Swim headphones! These have been a game-changer for my swim workouts. Here are a few reasons why I love them:First, let's address the elephant in the room – no mic and no Bluetooth underwater. Honestly, this is a blessing in disguise. Bluetooth technology just doesn't work underwater, so Wildhorn Outfitters made the smart move to include a fantastic MP3 mode instead. I can load up my favorite playlists and podcasts, and I never have to worry about connection drops or interruptions. It’s a brilliant workaround that keeps me motivated throughout my entire swim session. The sound quality is incredible, especially considering these are bone conduction headphones. I can hear my music perfectly, even with the noise of splashing water around me. They fit comfortably and securely, so I never have to adjust them mid-lap. Plus, they're lightweight and don’t interfere with my swim cap or goggles. One thing I noticed from other reviews was how some people missed having a microphone. For me, not having a mic is actually a plus. When I'm in the pool, I want to disconnect and focus on my workout without the distraction of calls or notifications. These headphones let me do just that – pure, uninterrupted swim time.I also have to give a shoutout to Wildhorn Outfitters for their incredible customer service and the manufacturer limited lifetime warranty. It's the best in class for this category of headphones, giving me peace of mind that they stand by their product. If anything ever goes wrong, I know I'm covered, which is a huge plus.In short, if you’re looking for high-quality, reliable headphones for swimming, the Crank Swim headphones are the way to go. They’ve made my workouts more enjoyable and effective. Thank you, Wildhorn Outfitters, for creating such an excellent product!

I originally wrote the very complementary review below. All of this was true until about 2 months of daily use later when the control buttons stopped responding and the device took on a mind of its own. Random songs would play for a few seconds then switch. Volume would go up and down. Stop pause wouldn't work. Tried multiple hard resets to no avail. Couldn't even power it down without multiple tries. At this point, I can't recommend. Two months until catastrophic failure is unacceptable. Durability is a major problem for all swim headphones I've tried, but this is the worst.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I have been swimming 6+ hours a week for 25 years and have been using bone conduction headphones for as long as they have been out. One brand had horrible sound quality (barely audible), another had battery failure after several months and was uncomfortable to wear. The third brand (Finis), best of them until now, I've used the most, but had to replace them about every year because crap out within a few months to a year - either battery failure or the wire connecting right and left ear pieces would become brittle and crack, disabling one earpiece (probably due to the chlorine in the pool). This product is much better built without any unprotected wires, is easy to put on and is comfortable. I do not yet know about durability but the build is solid and of higher quality than any of the others so I'm hopeful I will get at least 18 months out of it. Sound quality is also the best of the bunch - good volume, better tone. The user interface is also the best, although none are easy to use while swimming. However, this one provides voice guidance. If you are using these on land they also are bluetooth which is a nice touch (bluetooth doesn't work underwater hence the need for storing music on device - storage is quite ample). I highly recommend this device. Also, an app is not required. (A plus because the ones that do have apps for full functionality ask for all kinds of personal information for which they have absolutely no need.). In sum, I enthusiastically recommend these.

I swim quite a bit, and after using these, they deserved a review. I've been looking for headphones that I could use for both swimming and running. After doing a lot of research, I settled on these because they offer both an MP3 (for underwater activities) and Bluetooth mode (for out-of-water activities). At first, the fit required a bit of adjustment, particularly with my goggles and cap. Once I found the right configuration, the headphones fit securely on my head. I found them to fit comfortably enough, and for long swims (1.5 to 2 hrs), I didn't have any ear pain. I included some photos. It is a little annoying that you have to download all your songs. This takes time, but Bluetooth doesn't work underwater, so MP3 is really the only way to go. I figured out how to download songs/podcast from Spotify. You can download it by using spotifydown.com. I figure there is a version of this for all streaming services.I'm happy with the underwater sound quality. The lower frequencies can struggle a bit, but again, while I was doing research, lower frequencies struggle underwater anyway. I usually listen to podcasts when I swim, and I've been really happy with the clarity of what I can hear. The buttons on these headphones are pretty easy to use, and once you get used to them, I can easily adjust the volume and rotate between songs in the middle of a swim. The battery life has been great. I've been using them on multiple workouts before recharging. A typical workout for me is around 45 minutes to an hour.I considered another device that runs by broadcasting an FM radio frequency, but that setup is more complicated. It requires you to set up a station by your lap lane so you can transmit the FM frequency, as well as wear a larger, bulkier set of bone-conduction headphones. It is also more than twice as expensive. I liked the simplicity of this setup way more.I've also loved using these on runs. I like having headphones where I can hear what's going on around me. You can easily switch between MP3 and Bluetooth (for out-of-water activities) modes, and I didn't have any trouble connecting them to my phone.
