I drive a mid size truck, the rear head rests get in the way along with the small rear window. This mirror dash cam made it so I can see everything behind me. No blind spots. It does take a bit to get used to, but it works great. The added features are a plus. Cam quality is good. As expected with headlights behind you, a bit of glare. But even with a OEM autodimming mirror, I had glare. Install was easy. Hardest parts was removing the vehicle trim to run the cables.

I am testing the waters with dash cams, and on my 2019 Nissan Frontier I have added this and all I can say is wow what an amazing product. Having a live video rearward from the rear dashcam is incredibly helpful for things beyond an accident, and the way the entire unit works feels so slick and polished I honestly don't know why an OEM hasn't bought this company out and integrated this product into their cars. It is incredibly well thought out, and the 4K camera is absolutely amazing and interacting the the mirror and adding the lane assist and blind spot monitoring to a vehicle that doesn't have it is incredible to me. They gave plenty of cable, particularly for the rear where I had to run it through the length of the cab and under the bed to the rear tailgate. I had purchased longer cable, but turned out what they provided gave me about 4-6" extra length so otherwise it was perfect for my application. If you don't know you can also buy adapters to replace your actual mirror with this unit, and I highly recommend that option. I think it would look goofy and not work as seamlessly if it had to sit in front of my existing mirror, but buying the mirror post adapter as well makes it all look integrated like it came with the truck, and the mirror size was perfect for my frontier it has a nice large screen but leaves about 3/4" between the visors and the mirror, really making it look like it could have come from the factory.My only complaint, and its really not a complaint but just a fact of this product, is that the rear camera really is not all that great at night. Its pretty grainy and the light starbursts a lot so its hard to see what it is behind you. That being said I deliberately did not go for the top end model because I didn't want to be into the system for a ton of money to find out it didn't work well or I didnt like it and this particular model was a really good black Friday deal so it was perfect for what I needed it to do and the budget I was working with. Hindsight being 20/20 now that I know how stellar this really is I would buy the highest level model they offer because the front camera is amazing in virtually all conditions and I believe its the same camera for the rear if you get the top end model. I am going to install another one of these cameras this year on another car and I will follow my own advise and get the top-of-the-line, but i am plenty happy with this one as is and have no plans to replace it anytime soon.Excellent product all around.

So I've had this installed for a little over a month. My car's built in backup camera died shortly after I got it and it would have been too expensive to replace it. So I ended up purchasing this model as a cheaper replacement for a backup camera.I bought this model specifically because it was a new mid-range one and my hope was that the camera sensors would be better than older models. From what I can tell based on reviews of older models, this is true. This one has better camera sensors and better performance at night.I got the hardwire kit and the extension cable as well.So this product attempts to be multiple things: dashcam, backup camera, camera monitor, security camera, and driving safety assistant. I'll score each one independently.5/5 dash camMakes a great dashcam. Constant loop recording and can detect crashes and instantly lock the recording so it doesn't get overwritten. The onboard WiFi lets you easily connect to it to download media from it to your phone.3/5 backup cameraMakes an OK backup camera. It shows you a thin horizontal slice of the camera's view to fill the screen completely. You can adjust up or down so it shows you a different horizontal slice, but it won't let you zoom out and see the entire view of the camera. I would prefer an option to see the entire view of the backup camera even if it had black bars on the sides. With the hardwire kit, you can configure it so when you put the car in reverse, it shows you a specific horizontal slice, but it still won't let you zoom out.4/5 camera monitorThe screen and front facing camera goes on top of your existing rearview mirror. It provides a live feed of either the front camera, rear camera, or both (split screen). I keep it on the rear camera as it's replacing the rearview mirror basically. The view you see is much wider than you'd see normally out of just your mirror. In some ways that's extremely useful - now you can see into those blind spots on your back left and back right. In another way though it's distracting and misleading. Objects appear much further away than with the simple mirror, and it's basically a computer monitor running nonstop in front of your face. So it's distracting and it's difficult to get used to. My main beef with the approach is that because of the tech used, there's a noticeable delay between reality and when something shows on screen. Which is...not great. You CAN turn the screen off and just use the glass on the display as a mirror, but it's...not as good as a regular mirror. However, one thing that is very cool is with the wifi and app integration, you can see a live feed of either or both cameras on a smartphone or tablet, which is awesome. One potential use case could be to put a tablet in the backseat to show what's in front of the car for passengers.1/5 security cameraIf you get the hardwire kit, a new menu option becomes available to you. You can have the cameras periodically take pictures overnight while the car is parked and off, AND it can record video if it detects a crash. I was excited about this added benefit. Unfortunately it doesn't work due to a software or firmware issue. I've tried various settings and in the morning I've come out to my car to see the monitor is on and stuck in a neverending loop where it's not actually recording anything. I'm sure that's doing wonders for my car battery and is a shining beacon for thieves to come break in to my car. I reached out to support and they sent me a replacement microsd which was nice, but didn't fix the problem. A shame. I had to disable this function.1/5 driving safety assistantThey included some "smart" features and toggled them on by default. This includes lane drift warnings for instance. The warnings were incredibly distracting, incorrect, and made my driving LESS safe. I shut them all off. Same with the voice control. It's so limited and gets triggered on accident constantly so I shut that off too. I think it was included just to add buzzwords to the Amazon listing. These are practically useless.Bonus mini review on the hardwire kit: I appreciate having it, because the monitor and cameras automatically power on and off with the engine. No fiddling with cords or chargers or buttons. Worth it to me. See above for the broken security functions.Hope this review helps you make a decision.

Since it seems like quite a few of the reviews are all from people who received the camera for free, I figured I’d give my unbiased opinion. First of all, the camera quality is great. It’s sharp, handles bright lights without too much of an issue, and just looks good overall. I do wish the rear camera was a little higher resolution, but for what it is, it’s not bad. I think my biggest complaint is the brightness of the screen. I wish there was the ability to have it much brighter during the day. I have to have the mirror pointed under my rear window or the reflections wash out the screen. One thing to note is that I do not have tinted windows, so that could help. I would happily pay more for a brighter screen, especially if it could adjust brightness automatically. The smart driving features work pretty well, but can be a bit sensitive at times, even when set to low. The install was pretty easy and straightforward and I plan on hardwiring the camera soon. I was able to hide the GPS receiver in the ceiling of my car and it’s works great. Overall, if you are looking for a backup cam with a high quality camera and a lot of features, I definitely recommend this one!
