the packaging is cool, but the paper inside is average xuan half cooked paper.

Quality paper for practicing calligraphy and Chinese brush painting is very expensive and not easy to find. This package is a major find, it is truly wonderful rice paper and the sheets are large. They are gently folded in thirds, but not creased at all, the bends are gentle and flatten right out. I love this paper for printmaking too, it's very versatile and this feels and behaves like very high quality rice paper. If you aren't familiar with rice paper, it feels thin and delicate but it is remarkably durable and has exactly the properties you want for calligraphy or brush painting. And having a quantity of it will encourage you to practice, and that is so important. This really is great quality, made in the capitol of rice paper production in China. I'm thrilled with this, it's a great deal and the presentation is just gorgeous, totally giftable. I'll order this again without hesitation.
