Purchased this to replace the collar from the Don Sullivan system I had used 12 years ago. Package is branded as Don Sullivan but it is not the original collar. The rope and stitching is different. The DVD does not come with it despite what the package says. This collar is getting a lower rating because it’s only lasted a couple of months due to the rope and stitching fraying and becoming loose. Our pup has learned good walking habits and we use it for simple corrections. While it is easy to use, the product unfortunately did not live up to our expectations from the original.

Had purchased the Don Sullivan package years ago, and needed to replace the collar. The original lasted more than 10 years, but the fabric cord became frayed. Our pup loves the collar (10 months) and is her go-to collar. The packaging clearly indicates a DVD is included, but my package did not. Would have been a great refresher. Either way, it's a great product and a great way of 'training' pups to dogs. It really does make a difference.

The reviews complain of the durability, but it’s been almost a month of nearly daily walking our Doberman and she’s been great, give her a couple tugs when we put it on so she knows it’s there, it also works great inside, when she barks at dogs on the street or when we have unfamiliar company, she instantly calms down 75% of the time, the other 25% it just takes a firm tug (nothing too hard) and she’ll calm down. It’s better than metal ones because those genuinely hurt, and if you buy this and it doesn’t work for at least 4 months then I would recommend a metal one, but it just takes some solid leash command training with this collar to make your dog stop pulling, eventually we will switch to your regular collar but time will tell. She was a huge puller when we got her, and would stand up pulling everytime she saw another dog or squirrel, but every day since we started walking her with this she’s been improving every single day no joke.

I never write reviews but thought I should to help others considering this item. We purchased Don Sullivan's The Perfect Dog training system on his website, Dogfather.com, which included the command collar, training lines and training info DVD's. Our lab puppy outgrew her collar so I purchased this replacement command collar assuming it was the same. I was wrong, we have had it on and off of her for 5 days and today before leaving the house I corrected her and the metal clasp broke in two and the collar fell off her neck. If this had happened 5 minutes later I would have been outside with her and this could have had a very sad outcome. She may have run away from me into the street or just taken off. I purchased it knowing the reviews were bad but I wanted to confirm that it is very poorly made and do not trust it while walking your dog.
