Attempted to use on a 5/16 Stainless Steel nut. Threads stripped without pulling the nut tight to metal panel. It may work with aluminum or mild steel, but certainly not the stainless nuts. Sent back.LR

Doesn’t seem like the mandrels are made of hardened steel. The M6 mandrel lost threads on the first setting of nut, second one stripped more threads so that the nut would not totally set.The M8 seemed to fair better but the thread damage seems obvious after setting 4 nuts.

Have used one at my old job that hade long handles and I found on a impact or drill it was able to strip a few threads on the M6 threaded die so I finished the job using a socket wrench and drill on the lowest speed and clutch setting. It may have been the iron plate was stronger than the bolt rivets that came with it. It is difficult to find them at the local hardware store.

Tool purchased for personal use and so far, works very well. I recomend this kit because has more mandrels and rivet nuts than others similarly priced kits.

To start, this is not a tool to set pop rivets, this tool sets a rivet nut into a hole so a threaded fastener can be used. This may be obvious to most people looking at this type of tool, but a beginner DIY’er might not be aware that a rivet and a rivet nut are not the same thing.I used this when assembling a rack that was terribly designed. 4 nuts were included for bolts securing a structural component to the base, but the problem was the nuts had to be installed inside a narrow tube. You can see my problem - I could hold the nut by hand to get the fastener started, but I had to have a tool to at least hold the nut while I tightened the bold, but I didn’t have a wrench small enough to fit inside to hold the nut. There may have been a MacGuyver solution, but I grabbed my new tool instead.I had read reviews for this type product before I got ZOSANY’s Rivet Nut Tool Adapter, and I used the best pieces of advice from those reviewers to GREAT success. Here is what they shared that worked for me:1. Lubricate the threads on the mandrel before mounting the rivet nut.2. Don’t use an impact driver - it is too aggressive, use a drill with a clutch and set the torque high enough to accomplish the task but low enough to keep threads of the mandrel intact. I set my DeWalt drill to low and slow.3. Use the correct rivet nut for the size of the hole - if the hole is too big, the rivet nut may not compress.4. Keep the tool perpendicular to the work piece to get the best compression result.#3 was really important for my metal rack assembly. The rivet nut that matched the fasteners included with the rack was too small for the hole. I used the size rivet nut that best matched the hole and then used my own fasteners. I pushed and pulled on the structural pieces to make sure nothing was going to come loose. This was important because next I attached sections with “arms” to the structure - this rack is my workshop lumber rack and for it to fall apart would be a nightmare. I’m happy to report that this rack has been assembled and has been reliably holding my lumber supply for almost 3 months now with no give or play in those fasteners and rivet nuts. Using my new tool to revise this build made it faster and, in my opinion, more reliable.I removed one star because of the storage box of rivet nuts. If you are including a supply of consumables, give me either a bunch of small resealable bags OR a storage box that has room for everything. This plastic storage box included is not useful because it doesn’t hold all the supplied nuts with an ability to keep them separated by size. I had a partitioned storage box with space for all the sizes (repurposed an old clear matchbox or hot wheels carry case), and I’ll keep the box included with the tool to repurpose. However, it could have easily been a 5 star review for a very useful addition to my DIY toolkit.
