I bought this product to lower our electric bill and eliminate the need for cranking down the AC at night. Initially, I filled the machine with freezing cold water and was ecstatic about how much it cooled the bed. However, as the night progressed, the water temperature slowly returned to room temperature, and I found myself awake in a puddle of sweat. Essentially, this machine pumps room temperature water throughout the mattress pad, resulting in only a minor change in temperature, even on the max fan setting.I can now see the value in more expensive versions of bed coolers, as their built-in electric cooling with a thermostat can actually deliver the expected results. Unfortunately, I opted for this cheaper product, which did not meet my expectations.Notes for Improvement:This product could be vastly improved by creating a large insulated chamber around the water reservoir that can be filled with ice, ensuring that the water stays cold throughout the night. Alternatively, a reusable plastic casing that can be frozen and placed around the water reservoir, similar to a thick ice pack, would also be beneficial. I would not mind saving money and buying this product if these options were available.

The idea is fine. A mattress pad with built-in channels to pump cold-ish water through, for a cool bed experience.Initially, worked fine, pleasant experience even if the cooling is evaporative swamp cooling, so you have to top up water every so often (really every day or so), and the water is not super cold. It is however, cold enough that it can remove a lot of heat from your body.My problem was that after 2 days or so, the built-in pump seems to have died - the swamp cooler fan is working but the red light blinks and the pump stopped. This is also when the unit overflowed as all the water in the topper flowed back into the holding tank.Unfortunately, after retarting, the pump now shuts off after 2-3 minutes, reliably. It's a shame, the idea is not bad, and while it worked, it was pleasant.

I have both positive and negative feelings about this product. I would consider buying it again, but not at the current price. For more details, continue reading.(Note, I was not paid to make this review, nor compensated in any way). After using the NEAT AquaPad Breeze Water Cooling Mattress Pad for around 2 months, I'm sharing my review. Initially, I bought the larger model, and they also provided the smaller size pad for testing, as I was facing issues with it running out of water before the night ended (more on that later).I made the purchase on June 15th, 2023, taking advantage of a promotional offer, at a price of $156.As of August 11th, 2023, the "Twin/Twin XL/Half Queen" size is being sold for $239, but with an immediate $50 discount, it comes to $189.Given the multitude of competing products, I spent an excessive amount of time comparing them. My primary reasons for choosing the NEAT AquaPad were its positive heated pad reviews, the discounted price, and what I perceived as a much sleeker design compared to most competitors.PROS:Functions as described when implemented correctly.Operates quietly; dim white LEDs aren't bothersome at night.Moderately comfortable (placed under a mattress protector and fitted sheet; I tolerate the grid texture even as a picky sleeper when it comes to textures).Running an AC unit is more effective on the hot nights above 75F degrees; cools the bed around 3-5 degrees below room temperature.Note: This is usually sufficient for most users, considering the body's regular 98-degree temperature.Energy-efficient with a DC power supply (5v, 2000mw) USB. Caution: Avoid using an underrated USB charger to prevent device damage or overheating. They have exceptional product support; the West Coast representative is helpful and responsive. Follows up diligently if unable to provide immediate answers.CONS:In my scenario, the pad on my mattress tends to shift, requiring frequent adjustments every few days. Nighttime bunching can be bothersome.Leaking can occur when filling the unit; a slow fill process is necessary. (Manufacture recommends filling over a bin or basin to catch any leaks if filled to fast)In regions with low humidity, quicker evaporation might require more frequent refills, I still fill mine nightly to the max.Inconvenient hose attachment location; I placed it at the head of the bed and slightly over the edge of the mattress to help extend the hose's length.Hose length is insufficient; a shelf added to my headboard aids positioning. Previous higher placements hindered the fitted sheet from stretching over the mattress fully.Lack of dust or particle filters. I added a carbon filter and secured with a rubber bands, this prevents dust accumulation and potential unit damage.GENERAL TIPS:Fill the unit to the max fill line each night for optimal results. Yes, I do this nightly, and I don't find it inconvenient—discomfort from heat outweighs any inconvenience.Turn on the unit and let the pad expand before filling, as the pad consumes water from the reservoir.I use Reverse Osmosis (RO) water. Avoid using tap/sink water or water with minerals, as it can lead to mineral buildup and potential device issues.ADDITIONAL INSIGHTS:I've also experimented with bed fans, which circulate air above the mattress beneath the blankets. While this provides some comfort, it doesn't effectively cool the mattress itself. Despite having a "cooling" mattress and "cooling sheets," let's face it—passive cooling items can't match the effectiveness of an active device like this one.As mentioned earlier, I'm now using the larger pad, though I was sent a smaller one to test due to my water supply issues causing the unit to stop pumping (resulting in a blinking red light). Proper height placement beside the bed and ensuring the unit is filled to the max line proved crucial in resolving this matter.ADDED SAFETY WARNING FOR WATER-BASED PRODUCTS:Do you have a power strip on your headboard or any high-voltage sources nearby, such as an electric blanket?Keep in mind, this product contains water. While I haven't experienced leaks, if one were to occur and water came into contact with high voltage, the consequences could be severe—even fatal. Be wise! Avoid placing a power strip on your headboard or using this product with any high-voltage items on the bed. All high-voltage devices should be situated on the floor or wall.FINAL REFLECTIONS:Taking everything into account, despite the mentioned drawbacks, and without factoring in filters and hose length, I can honestly say that my sleep quality has significantly improved. I would unquestionably make this purchase again, albeit not at its current price point. In my opinion, the larger pad version should ideally be priced at a maximum of $150, and the smaller pad even lower. This recommendation stands until certain design issues are addressed, at which point they could justify a higher price.

I read a lot of reviews before making this investment on the queen sized version. As everyone mentioned the hoses are really short, but my nightstand is close enough to the bed that I didn't have a problem fitting my sheets over it. There is a strong vinyl "air mattress" smell that went away (or wasnt that noticeable) within a few hours. When it arrived, we had already reached triple digits and I was eager to try ot out. It feels cool to the touch, but after laying on it for a few minutes, it really brings your body temperature down. The first night I got up and put on socks, a sweatshirt, and pajama pants over what I was already wearing, and I still couldn't get warm enough to fall asleep. I kick my feet a lot when I'm hot, but I dared not move a centimeter for fear of losing my precious body heat. At 2:00 am, I was ripping the bed sheets off so I could move the cooling mat underneath my 3 inch mattress topper. It stayed like that a little over a week before I moved it above the mattress topper and I made another attempt at sleeping on it last night with the fan set at the lowest (warmest) setting. I put a quilt over it in hopes to create a little barrier and still ended up getting another blanket underneath, plus an additional blanket on top, socks, and a long sleeved shirt. I am a hot sleeper and normally have to sleep hugging a bottle of ice and misting myself with icy hot right before bed. This definitely delivered the cold and I am very optimistic for my future summer nights as soon as I can find the sweet spot. I would recommend this because you will not suffer from a hot sleepless night ever again.

I sleep hot. I sleep on one of those expensive Sleep Number beds and while its the most comfortable bed I have ever owned, it is also the hottest bed I have ever owned. Had I known then what I know now, my decision may have been different. To make matters WORST, I am one of those weirdos that like to have weight on top of me, so I sleep with a 20 lb. weighted blanket on top of me both winter and summer. I have woke up at two in the morning many times with "night sweats" to the point that my tee shirts have all yellowed and not even bleach will whiten them again. Do you know how expensive tees are? I needed help!!I looked at those expensive active cooling and heated mattress pads but when I say expensive, I mean they cost as much as my BED! Besides, I figure I did not need heat.....I needed things cooler. Be careful what you wish for! Enter this beauty...the Neat Aquapad breeze! It first caught my eye because of its small unobtrusive footprint, then its price. This pad is 1/8 (or 87%) cheaper that those expensive options. I searched and found more options but for some reason I kept coming back to this. I still almost did not purchase because Its not really an active cooler (it cools by evaporation) or what is technically called evaporative cooling. I have NEVER been impressed with those type devices, BUT for the price (back to that in a moment) I figured I will almost assuredly send this item back but all but the big boys had more active tech Hence the expense. I stuck to my guns and purchased solely on the design and the fact that I knew it will work with my room decor. This product was easy to set up, and I did not even need instructions. However, once set up, I had pieces left over....well that is not good, so to the instructions I went and these extra pieces were not listed, mentioned, OR explained. They are in a bag in my night stand drawer. I filled with distilled water (you NEED distilled water) so nothing nasty will grow in the tank, lines and pad (I am assuming here so do not shoot). So, set up and ready to go. My first night I was expecting to be hot and disappointed but that was not what my reaction was. ICE (actually my first thought was something I can not put in this review). COLD. I knew I was on to something with in minutes of sliding into bed.I tried to get comfortable, but I just could not. After about an hour or two, I gave up and turned this pad off. I was chilled to the bone and now I had a different (but nicer problem) I can control this I am sure of it. I now have my pad sandwiched between two mattress covers. The bottom one is water proof (can not have that pad leak and ruin a good memory foam mattress, then the Neat pad and on top of the Neat pad two full length bath towels, and then the top mattress cover. Second night better. Yes, I am attempting a little humor in this long review, but this pad is so cold it has to be tempered. You will need to put some distance between you and this pad If you are normal of course, if NOT you may enjoy sleeping on ice...that is on you.I did not think it would work because I figured it could not cool much beyond ambient temperature but I did not think it through. Its not ambient temp of the room, its MY ambient temperature that matters. Since I am at 98.6 degrees, underneath me is at or hotter than that so the pad only has to be several degrees colder than ME so....If that water is 68 degrees being pumped underneath me, I WILL become uncomfortable. I was. Did I mention ice in this review?Be Careful, the mattress will backfill the tank when turned off so if that tank has too much water in it you may possibly have water all over a table (ask me how I know). I would suggest you keep it sitting in the pan it comes with for several days until you get the hang of how this pad functions. Do I like it? NO! I LOVE it! Now, the price I said I would come back to. I think for a swamp cooler its still too expensive what what is does and how it does it. There is simply not much to this device. I got this with a lightning deal on Amazon, that being said, I STILL would have purchased this cooling pad because its so much cheaper than the big boys. Neat gives you a five year warranty and I hope I do not have to use it. Oh, its also very quite. If you sleep already with some sort of white noise this will not be a disturbance. Okay, Whew, my thoughts are over. Purchase it if you sleep hot.
