The user interface is very close to Windows, it has many good options but still lacking a few. At this point, the item is still in the early stages of testing, thus, you may come back in 2-3 months for a more complete review.

I was unable to set the unit's IP Address no matter what I tried. When I tried to change it I could no longer access the NAS and I had to perform hard reset returning the unit to Factory Default to set it up. I spent several hours on Reddit searching for a solution. Nothing worked. I couldn't get my unit registered to get an ASUS NAS ID. The available apps were rather thin unless all you wanted only multimedia applications. I would think twice before purchasing this unit.

Easy to set up, has the basic features you need for a basic NAS, has a lot of server features for people who needs a home server. I only need it for secure storage so it's a slight overkill but so what. It works, its fast, I love that it aggregates 2 ethernet ports for max speed!

I bought this to build a home NAS and Plex server to replace an aging Xeon based workstation that was wasting tons of power in my closet. This thing is super quiet, and really sips the power in comparison. It also does a great job transcoding my movies on the fly for plex streaming, the intel chip in this support hardware transcoding, which is great! The other thing that I think is a real positive is the ram is expandable. You can get a cheap 8GB or 16GB laptop memory kit and expand the ram easily. I happened to have an extra 8GB of ram sitting around, so that's what I did.Otherwise, I found that it's pretty feature-rich. NFS and SMB both work great on it with good transfer speeds. And I was able to set up link aggregation on it easily. The other thing I'll mention is the backup features are good, it comes with built in integrations with various popular cloud providers, such as AWS and Backblaze. Setting that up is a real breeze.

After about a week of frustration, poor documentation, and few tools to actually troubleshoot, I was close to returning this. No matter what I did, ports just would not forward correctly, making any attempt at using Docker or Traefik a waste of time. And you can just tell it to forward ports, there's no option for that. The ADM OS does what it wants, when it wants to, and you don't get a say in the matter. Then I found out you can use Unraid with this, and it changed everything. I didn't have to try and convince the OS to forward ports, it just worked. I got everything set up with some amazing guides (video and written for almost everything I wanted) from Ibracorp. The only remaining complaint is that it only comes with 4GB of RAM. It's cheap to upgrade to their claimed max of 8, but annoying when you order the other 4 and it gets lost on the way so you're stuck with low memory 'till the new one arrives. Unraid also claims the actual max is 16GB, so we'll see how that goes this weekend.Edit: I put 2 8GB sticks of memory in, and I did have to reseat it because it didn’t appreciate my first attempt, but all 16GB are recognized and being put to good use.
