This is great for starting out. When first learning to wear a weighted vest, you don’t want to invest in the customized ones. Fun pattern, fabric is durable, and it does fine in the wash.

So like the headline says, this vest does run small. The large, which the chart size is roughly for kids 10 years and up, is more the size of an 8 year old. I imagine the other sizes run smaller too.The weighted bags are easily removed from the inner pockets, and this could be great or terrible depending on your situation. The pockets don't have even a zipper to zip them shut. It is possible to flip the vest to wear it inside out (so the pockets are on the outside), so having a more secure closure would have been ideal.

Let’s get the big disclaimer out of the way first, because I really don’t think the Amazon listing does a good enough job of stating this and it’s so, SO important: THIS IS NOT A FLOATATION DEVICE AND SHOULD NEVER, EVER BE USED IN OR AROUND WATER! Seriously – if there is any water anywhere around you, do NOT purchase this vest. If you have a pool, do NOT purchase this vest. If you live anywhere near a body of water…even if you’re 100% sure you will only ever use it indoors and will watch your children like a hawk, just don’t take the chance. This is a HEAVY weighted vest and if a child wanders into a place where they shouldn’t be, even a full bathtub, it could spell disaster very quickly. They will sink like a stone. I’ve given the product 3 stars because it doesn’t do a good job of mentioning or describing SAFETY. I will amend my review if they change that.Really great idea for kids with comfort/soothing/sensory issues. I’m on the fence about whether or not I like the design of the weights and pockets. They are on the inside of the vest, which makes them harder for children to get to and take out, but certainly not impossible, and I can already see the little weighted bags being removed, lost, used as lobbed weapons…while I can appreciate that the vest is adjustable in terms of how much weight you put it in (making it easy to use with multiple kids with different weight preferences or needs), I would have liked to see a system that was a little more permanent and could only be changed with adult help.
