I needed a backup key for my Honda civic 2002. It did need to be programmed. I took it to a key locksmith and he was able to program it for $20. What a great deal! Now I have a backup if I need it which gives me peace of mind.

I didn't know I had to get the key cut but I will but if it doesn't work I hope I can still return it because it will be useless to me

This product did not work. My MDX requires a special chip key, which this key purports to be. The correct chip keys at the hardware store cost $45, so I thought I could save myself some money going this route. NOPE. After having the key cut, it fits in the ignition and turns, but the engine won’t turn over. Engine turns over fine with my original key (just got this one so I would have a spare). Total waste of money. Totally unsatisfied.

Dealers will charge a hefty fee to cut the key. You might as well get the key from the dealer.

Worked perfectly for my 01 civic. BUT KNOW THIS, if you have a key already and are looking for a second, it only needs to be CLONED, not programmed. Cloning was $15, reprogramming would have been $60.
