Three weeks ago, I was riding on an asphalt road on route to the trails when my relatively new (3 weeks old – 8 rides) Forekaster’s sidewall blew up for no apparent reason, leaving me stranded far from home. I filled Maxxis’ warranty form and sent pictures of the defect. A week and a half later, Maxxis replied their “inspection” found the tire was damaged by road/trail hazard, and wasn’t a manufacturer’s defect.I have no idea how anyone can complete a warranty claim without actually physically looking at the tire to determine the cause of the failure. Anyway, I certainly won’t keep wasting my money in so-called high-end failing products in these difficult economic times, let alone ruining my ride and my day. This is an obvious case of a defect stemming from poor materials and/or poor workmanship, and next time I will go to a department store to buy my mountain bike tires.DO NOT buy this tire to do mountain biking. Actually, DO NOT BUY THIS TIRE AT ALL.
