This is a pretty decent nib for ~$16-$17. Stainless Jowo #6 nibs usually go for $20+, and the black ones are usually more, so there is a pretty good value potential here. BUT, there are some things to keep in mind before you buy these:1) the collar and feed are not sized the same as a standard Jowo #6, so it is not a drop in replacement for pens set up for Jowo #6 nibs2) the nib will most likely require some fine tuning and set upIf those 2 things don't bother you, then I think this is a pretty good low cost option for a really nice looking, black finish, extra fine, Jowo #6 nib. I am a relative novice in the fountain pen world. I've only been into fountain pens for alittle over 6 months, but I was still able to to disassemble the nib assembly and transfer the nib onto a standard Jowo #6 feed & collar to use in a new fountain pen. But, then I had to move onto tuning it because it did not write well at all...At first this nib was extremely scratchy and had poor ink flow, causing it to skip alot and have hard starts - or just not write at all. I had to open up the tines abit and smooth them out alot before it would write reliably and smoothly. Even with the tines opened some, it still writes Extra Fine lines, which is nice considering that many of the other Jowo #6 nibs I've tried write more like Fine nibs rather than Extra Fine. That said, certain inks do not play well with Extra Fine nibs like this - Kaweco Black Pearl being one of them. I've also used 2 Monteverde inks with these nibs (black and red ink cartridges) and they both did well.In the end, I think I'm going to take this Extra Fine nib off and replace it - but I'm going to replace it with another Monteverde USA branded Jowo #6 nib, this time in Fine rather than Extra Fine - knowing that I will probably have to tune it the same way I tuned these.I will recommend these as long as you know what you are doing and aren't afraid to tune a nib. If you are looking for a drop in, out of the box, smooth writer, these are not for you.
