Love the machined metal body on these. Makes it easy to hold and write with. Highly recommend.

Comfortable, sleek, solid, affordable . . . But the pocket clip is completely useless. It's way too firm and can't really clip onto anything -- paper, a pocket -- nothing. If you put the pocket clip from the Pilot V5 on this, it's a perfect writing utensil, imo.

I have been a supporter of mechanical pencils for over 30-years now. They are far-less wasteful and with a pack of good leads, equals any 12-pack of wood or plastic pencils you can buy (plus, you can control your lead color and darkness easily). My wife wanted my recommendation for a 'good mechanical pencil' she could put in her home pencil box, and I told her I doubted she wanted to pay the Parker or Schaffer price for a premium mechanical...let me look into it. Well, I found the PaperMate 2-pack, and told her it was worth giving a try...not to worry about leads, that I had hundreds if not thousands of very high quality B and 2B drafting leads (from when I worked in Engineering). She got this set of pencils, which did have decent HB leads in them already...but she liked how my Parker wrote, so I dumped her new PaperMates and filled them with some German 'B' leads I had...and she instantly fell in love with them. These pens are as tight as a Parker (not quite a Schaffer, though), and are easy on leads like my Zebra M-701 (all stainless, I picked up while in Japan)...so you aren't snapping leads with every other letter you write. Overall, if you aren't looking to drop $100 or more in a mechanical Pencil collection, just want a good overall writing instrument, this is exactly what you want...she even took one of them to work, so she'd have one at work and one at home. Good B and 2B leads are another issue in finding, as there is no 'definitive scale' for how hard each one is...you just have to test brands, and stick with a brand, once you find the darkness and softness you want.

These have little to no lead movement, making for a smooth writing experience. The grip can get uncomfortable, but that’s to be expected for any pencil without an ergonomic grip. Overall, nothing to “write” home about, but they do feel more premium than your everyday mechanical pencil.
