This was perfect for my need. My apartment complex said they would charge $80 to replace the screen on the sliding screen door that my dog scratched 2 years ago and needed replaced. That's theivery. This kit was $9 for the screen and the tool to push it into the slot. Very easy to fix myself in 10 minutes. Just laid the door down and removed old screen, lay out the new screen on the door evenly and then started in center of the top and pushed the rubber into the slot just making sure that it was pulling the screen from the side i was working on not the other side and on the last side just pull tight as you go. Used a utility knife to trim when done, replaced the handle, hung up the door and tightned the screws into the runner and it was done! Other tools needed are a screwdriver to remove the handle of the door, a utility knife to trim excess off, and scisssors to trim where the utility knife didnt trim close enough. This saved me $72!!! Good deal!

This pet screen was used to replace a very old screen on a patio door. It came as a roll and was not folded so there are no creases. I did not install it, but the person who did had no problems even though it was his first screen replacement. The spline went in easily and perfectly. There was no tearing of the screen. He claimed it was not as tight as he would have liked, but I cannot see it at all now that it is vertical. The old screen had to be replaced after a squirrel made two holes in it to get early supper/late lunch of peanuts inside the house. He made a hole to get in and another to get out and he did it in 7 minutes. I do not know if this pet screen could stop a determined impatient squirrel (i feed them twice a day!)Squirrels have climbed this new pet screen and so far have not made any holes - just like my old screen before one of them decided to eat it. Is this screen chewable? I do not know. The holes in the petcscreen are noticeably smaller than my old screen. Squirrels now run up it like it is a wall, without their nails getting into the screen holes like they did the old and like my cats' nails would. So it is safe for normal squirrel travel. The one negative, and it is a big one, is the screen colour - black. It looks nice from a distance, but everything outside is dark when near it. I used to be able to watch the squirrels run across the lawn when they saw me in the door, but now I really cannot. I cannot see a chipmunk standing next to the screen so opening it is risky. At night, the whole outside is pitch black. The good news is that squirrels also cannot see inside your house and spot a bag of peanuts. If you need the best squirrel proof screen this is it. But it comes at a big cost - loss of view. However, almost all replacement screen are now black instead of gray, so the problem is not just with this screen. Visibility is sacrificed no matter what black screen you get.The quality of this screen is excellent. It is thicker and seems stronger than my old 47 year old screen. Not a bug could get in through the holes too. And it will protect my books and furniture from bleaching from the sun since it blocks so much of the sun. I used to keep the curtains closed in the morning to protect my books, but this screen will do it and let in some light something curtains do not. This screen comes in a roll in a very long box but is not heavy. The wheel thing was supposed to come with it but did not, so you may want to buy a set with the clips to help you. The screen was also put in while it layed on the railings of a deck, not on the floor, making it easier to put in while standing up.

For less than 20 bucks replaced the screen on my sliding door and it looks great. The included hand tool is not the sturdiest so dont press down too hard it might break it is made out of plastic. The screen itself is of ok quality and does the trick. the outter membrane fit perfectly around my door. no complaints here. just find a good youtube video on how to change the sliding door screen...if I can do it anyone can.

I bought this kit replace the screen on my back sliding door. The previous screen ripped around the handle.Ease of installation / Ease of use-It was fairly easy to install and took me about 20 minutes not including removing and hanging the frame. I had never done this before.Short version of steps starting with frame removed from door/window1. Remove old spline2. Remove old screen3. Line new screen up with frame4. Optional - Roll(crease) new screen into grooves on frame. Other instructions skip this step. I had to do it to get the spline to go in without wrinkling the screen5.Put new spline in6. Cut off excess screenI first removed the old spline (rubber part that holds the screen into the frame). I found using a small flat-head screwdriver worked well to get between the spline and frame to give me enough material so that I could just pull it out with my hands. Then opened the package and lined up the screen so that it went part the grooves for the spline on all 4 sides of the frame. I then used the non-grooved supplied tool to roll the screen into the grooves in the frame. I highly recommend watching videos on this part. Unfortunately I didn't take pictures of the process because I didn't plan on reviewing the kit. The videos said this step was not necessary for a fiberglass screen but I was having a little bit of trouble when I skipped this step, so I did it and did not damage the new screen. Then, I installed the spline by rolling it in with the grooved end of the supplied tool. Once I got the spline started, I kept it stretched a little so that it went in easier. For the corners I used a blunt piece of metal so I didn't accidentally cut the spline. Finally, I used a utility knife to cut the excess screen material. I probably should've bought the cutting tool showed on the sample video, the fiberglass pet screen is thing and I had to make more than one pass at times. This is the reason for the 4 star rating on ease of useDurability - the screen is fairly thick and more forgiving than what was there previously. It seems like it's going to hold up well. I have not had this long enough to know the actual long-term durability, but it does come with a 10 year limited warranty

I've replaced a few screens before. I normally get a new screen from a store so I can see the quality of the screen beforehand but due to covid I decided to try this online-only purchase. The screen was properly sized with generous extra over the door. The plastic tool worked fine. Doesn't look too sturdy but worked well for a single install. I was worried about the spline since I know there are different diameters. Was prepared to re-use the one that was on my broken screen but the new spline was the same size as the previous one so I got to replace that too. Screen looks very good, was easy to install and expect it will last as long as the previous one -that is until someone gets distracted and tries to walk through it. When that happens I will probably buy this one again.
