But they just aren't very good. I have an extensive collection of pastels (block, pencils, and panpastels) because coloring with pastels is meditative for me.When I saw these I was excited to give them a go. But instead of being richly pigmented the are dull and light. They crumble as you color and as you brush away the excess, you also brush away the color you just laid down. It does that on cheap paper as well as expensive pastel paper. There's really not much "metallic" shine at all and as you can see from my swatches, what you get is vastly different than what you expect. Also, if you want to fix an edge you smudged all you have to do is wipe it with your finger because the color simply does not adhere to the paper. Beautiful in the box but lackluster and fragile on paper.

I am a semi-pro pastel artist. I found these metallic pastels to be easy to work with and have wonderful color and luminescence.
