When you receive this, you'll think you just purchased something from that one fruit computer company. Not really, but the packaging is terrific. You just get goosebumps from the get go.I purchased this to convert my video head base plate to Arca swiss. Almost everything I won is attached with Arca Swiss, so I figured this was the logical thing to do.Like I already mentioned, the packaging is great, but it doesn't stop there. The unit itself is also very high quality. It feels very good in hand and the functionality is very smooth. Even the screws have a very nice finish to themI feel this is a steal for the price. Go ahead and grab one...or two.

As mentioned, the only complaint I have about this clamp is that it emits a high-pitched squeak when open/closing the jaws. It seems to be the actual threads, when tension is applied from the return spring in the jaw. The squeak mostly happens when opening them. I tried adding some graphite, but there's no way to really get it where it needs to go.That aside, it's a very nicely made clamp. The machining and threading is all top notch, and the anodization has no imperfections. It fit all of my arca-compatible plates with no issues. My favorite feature is the dovetail on the bottom, rotated ninety degrees from the clamp. This allows me to use a nodal rail clamp with a tele lens that has its foot facing the wrong way. The thing is also covered in 1/4-20 holes, and comes with a couple of partially threaded bolts for mounting. There's one 3/8" hole on the bottom, as well, but it's off center (away from the moveable jaw.)A pleasant surprise was a small keychain tripod plate tool. It isn't mentioned or pictured in the listing at all, but very welcome. It's the triangular thing in my photo. This is a very high quality tripod plate, and I'd overall recommend it. The only issue I have, and why this is four instead of five stars, is the obnoxious squeaking. If you can deal with that, or find a way to lubricate it, it's a great option.

Awesome piece. Hard to find other plates with mounting holes on the side so this is a great option for that. A bit squeaky, but that didn't bother me.

Not much to stay about a baseplate. It's all metal and comes with two screws and multiple screw ports underneath for added security. There's three 1/4 screw mounts on the front side of the unit as well. I don't know if you can fit anything in those screw mounts while this is mounted on a tripod, monopod, or glidecam, but good for vertical shooting potentially. Or you could attach extra accessories potentially, but the overhand of the camera would make those three screw mounts a tight fit.The packaging is overkill and you'll have to dig the screws and mini screwdriver out and the internal padding comes off and is very sticky underneath, but I'm nitpicking now. Tilta will package the most mundane of items like you got a diamond ring instead.DO NOTE: The plate itself is NOT INCLUDED. This is ONLY THE MOUNT.PLATE FITTING - I read other reviewers say they had issue fitting the arca plate, I had NO ISSUE AT ALL and have multiple brands. I suspect people are putting their plates on 90 degrees the wrong direction maybe? The longest dimension of the plate should be parallel to the camera body and not the lens. The short dimension of your plate slides into the mount.

I have been in the process of converting most of my gear to use Arca Swiss bases and quick release plates. There is a a surprising range of cost and quality for such a minimal device. This particular one has something I strongly dislike about it. When I got it, I was unable to place an Arca style quick release plate on it because when "fully opened" there wasn't enough room to drop it in place on this base. I could have slid it in if it weren't for the safety catch pins on the bottom of the quick release plate that I didn't want to remove. So I used a hex wrench on the knob to force it to open further. I added some WD-40 lubricant on the the threads of the knob and now it does open far enough for the expected use. However, the aspect I really dislike is that the knob loosens and can be fully removed, causing both the knob and the springs to fall out. I've had some other parts like this and it's terrible, especially on location where pieces might fall out and be lost forever, or in the trunk of a car where knobs can vibrate loose over time. Most other Arc Swiss style parts I have been buying have a feature that allows the knob to fully loosen but something holds the knob in place so it or the springs cannot fall out. realistically, it's probably not going to be an issue for most people, but I considered this in my rating and suggest getting this only if it's the cheaper of options or if you expect a situation where it doesn't get moved much with a lot of set up and tear down of gear and the potentially for the knob falling out and getting lost on location. It's otherwise a quality part, seems very durable, and I like the threaded mounting options on the bottom. I am not sure what the 1/4 20 thread mounts and included bolts on the side of it are for. Perhaps just handy storage or extra mounting options? This is a unique feature among the various bases I have.

No entran las placas de liberación rápida arka swiss debido a los tornillos en la parte inferior. The arca swiss quick release plates do not fit due to the screws on the bottom.
