The Tyco SD-30 horns arrived without instructions but none are needed. It is very simple wiring:Red= Yelp, Yellow= Steady, White=Common. The steady is just that, a constant loud tone and the Yelp is an attention getting siren.The alarm system sends 6-12VDC to the Red or Yellow wire when the alarm is activated.The specs state the horn requires 1.1 A. My system states it will provide 1 amp to each horn (wired to separate relays and separate power supplies) and I saw no problems with the volume nor the ability of the alarm system to supply power to the horn.We tucked 2 of these horns against the vented eaves from inside the attic for the front and the rear of the house and using the Yelp Mode. This hides the horns and minimizes any attempt to tamper with them.The horns were plenty loud enough to get the attention of the neighbors and are annoying enough to have them look out their windows.Very inexpensive at $18 each so we even replaced an older horn already installed.

I used this as an addition to the one hooked up at the inside of my home. I used to have security services and the guy who intially hooked up my system placed the siren inside the house, i have a dsc1616 panel and i added this by placing it just around the vent of my attic so that my neigbors will be alerted if something is wrong, i tested it and it was loud enough that my neighbor actually went to my unit to check out whats going on at my house. I guess its really working out great. I bought another one and plan to put it at the other side of my house.

Every bit as loud as the mega-bucks sirens.(that still look just like this one-all made in China, of course)Within hearing damage DBs at close range.Will wake the dead. I was amazed at the quality..Up date 3-23-14: After owning this for three years and never finding a real use for it, it is now invaluable. My next door neighdor's kid(s) run their stereo on full bass and shake the neighborhood. I mounted this on a tree facing that neighbor, and hooked up the 'constant tone' wires. Success!!! It did what the police have been unable to address. It brought out the police and the other neighbors explained what was going on. (They were on my side) Problem solved. Heavy bass shaking the neighborhood, siren engaged for ___ minutes 'till the music was turned down. I explained to the police I was creating a 'white sound' for relief of the wall-shaking bass. The neighbor turned out to be the 'bad guy'..Update 3-31-14: Just ordered another. With two going at once fighting each other on a single (high) note, I can shut the neighbor down almost immediately. Truly a noise from hell. Slightly off-key intolerable noise. Fire with fire? I don't know.Noise with MORE noise= success.
